Estill Voice Training™ in Action: A Workshop Recap

We had a wonderful day last Sunday, at the Introductory Estill Voice Training Workshop. It was such a joy to spend the day with a fantastic group of like-minded people: singers, teachers, choir leaders, and actors, all curious, kind, and passionate about exploring the voice. Everyone was engaged, enthusiastic, and asked thoughtful questions that sent us down a few interesting rabbit holes! I personally left feeling inspired, re-energised, and reminded of why I love this work: the voice is so precious, and it’s a privilege to work with it and share my passion, knowledge with others.

We were having so much fun I didn’t take any photos! So many thanks to Jude B to who snapped this one!

But perhaps it’s best described by one of the attendees, the fabulously talented Wendy Pollard, who shared these very kind words about her experience:

“I attended the Estill Voice Training workshop held by Laura Boon in Canterbury yesterday, and it was an absolutely enjoyable and inspiring day. It was a pleasure meeting Laura and her lovely assistant (and daughter) Rosie.

The workshop was both informative and engaging, learning about the dynamics of vocal techniques and how they relate to anatomy was truly enlightening. As a singer, you don’t often stop to think about how certain sounds are produced or developed, you simply sing. But gaining an understanding of the mechanics behind the voice opens up so many possibilities for developing and refining technique.

From a teaching perspective, I found it invaluable. The insights I gained will definitely help me guide my students more effectively, especially in areas where they need to strengthen particular aspects of their vocal control.

The day was well structured, fun, and very enjoyable. The timetable worked beautifully, and it was also lovely to meet such like-minded people. Laura is excellent at what she does, extremely knowledgeable, talented, and personable, which made the whole experience both educational and thoroughly enjoyable.

I would wholeheartedly recommend Estill Voice Training workshops with Laura. It was a fantastic day and I learned so much. Perfect for singers and singing teachers alike.

Thank you, Laura!”
